On February 2, Derek Lam hosted a fabulous party to celebrate his debut fragrance collection, 10 Crosby, at the Angelika Film Center & Cafe. In an effort to “break the rules,” the revered designer commissioned a series of short films to capture the essence of each of his ten fragrances. The shorts do not feature product placement nor are they ad campaigns. Lam wants to engage with his consumers in a unique and inspiring manner.
The project is a Supermarché/Moxie Pictures Production. Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman (the co-directors and co-founders of Supermarché) commented that they were nervous and excited to be screening the films at the legendary Angelika. Inspired by Crosby Street and the fragrance names, all of the stories were filmed in and around Crosby Street.
During the cocktail party, guests like Alana Zimmer, Andrew Zuchero, Ava Raiin, Aya Cash, Celia Rowlson Hall, Frederic Fekkai, Jennifer Kim, Jessica Joffe, Kate Lyn Sheil, Misha Nonoo, Shirin von Wulffen and Sofia Black D’Elia were were able to smell the perfumes for themselves, while snacking on gummy worms, pink cotton candy, nonpareils and truffle popcorn.
The Crosby (made of a Stolichnaya Vodka Martini, hint of Vermouth, with olive and a twist) and The Ginger Lime Gimlet Slushy (made of Ginger Infused vodka, lime juice and simple syrup) were the most popular drinks of the evening. Attendees were also able to snap photos with their friends at the photo booth, while tapping their feet to to Punjabi MC and Jay Z’s “Beware of the Boys” and Azealia Banks’ “212.”
