Mixtape Review: Dej Loaf’s ‘All Jokes Aside’

Detroit rapper Dej Loaf released her new mixtape “All Jokes Aside” this week and it has been trending ever since. This mixtape is a complete masterpiece. From the fire beats, the creative artwork, and the messages in her songs this mixtape was well worth the wait.

The artwork for All Jokes Aside is the beautiful Dej standing behind a black background, shirtless, while covering her chest. It’s clear that Loaf has switched up her image since when she first stepped in the game back in 2014. The artwork for this mixtape is bold, sexy, and fearless, which is everything that she talks about in her songs. Every song on the mixtape carries a strong message that is relatable for all women.

All Jokes Aside is made up of 11 motivational tracks. Strong minded for her age Loaf discusses her career driven mentality and puts on for the female bosses. Her songs; “Chase Mines”, “Goals”, and “I’m Gon’ Win” are daily reminders that you have to keep grinding and you have to make things happen by any means necessary. Loaf also does a song with Master P’s little brother Silkk the Shocker called “Bout that”. Together the two killed that track and gave you a taste of that good old No Limit flavor.

Female rappers have never been a dominate in Hip Hop and what’s dope about Dej Loaf is that she is in a lane of her own. Loaf is only growing as an artist and I can’t wait to see what she has for us next. After listening to this tape it is obvious that Dej flow is only getting better, and if you can’t tell by the mixtape title, she means business.
