The 27th GLAAD Media Awards gala was held at New York’s Waldorf Astoria.
GLAAD, a LGBT media advocacy organization, honored Robert De Niro and Mariah Carey with GLAAD Awards. The GLAAD Media Awards recognize and honor media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the LGBT community and the issues that affect their lives. The GLAAD Media Awards also fund GLAAD’s work to amplify stories from the LGBT community and issues that build support for acceptance.
The 27th Annual GLAAD Media Awards were hosted by Laverne Cox with performances by Bebe Rexha, actor and singer Alex Newell, and Fun Home’s Kally Duling and Emily Skeggs.
Jennifer Lawrence presented Robert De Niro with an Excellence in Media Award and Lee Daniels presented Ally Award to singer Mariah Carey.
