All Comes from Nothing Fall/Winter 2018

All comes from nothing, a term that can be used for clothing, after all, it all starts as basic fabric yardage before being transformed into an item of clothing. Designer, Eva Xu was inspired by the work of Gustave Klimt, in particular, “The woman in gold” (Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I) at the Neue Galerie.

The predominant use of a gold palette and intricate dress details influenced Xu’s collection which has been translated through the metallic and lavishly gathered pieces in the collection. Xu has titled this collection ‘Love is the only gold’ as a tribute to Klimt.

All comes from nothing combines the traditional technique of draping with contemporary art and fabric in order to achieve this bold yet understated aesthetic. The pieces display Xu’s philosophy of minimalism and simplicity.
