On March 12, MarieBelle New York’s flagship store hosted a book signing for MariBelle Lieberman’s new book “Maribelle Entertains.” A chocolatier, chef and entrepreneur, Lieberman spoke with attendees about her experience authoring the book, passion for cooking and entertaining and inspirations as a chef.
Born in Honduras, Lieberman traveled the world, beginning her culinary career as a chef. Lieberman told The Knockturnal that her love for cooking easily transferred into chocolate making.
“As a chef, what really inspired me was the study of ingredients,” Lieberman said. “So when I decided to do my business in chocolate I did research on its origins. I wanted to tell the true story of cacao.”
“Maribelle Entertains” is a love letter to culinary artistry but also to her fans. She packed the book with simple yet delicious recipes, intending to make cooking accessible to a wide audience.
“The presentation is a very elegant book, but the recipes are not complicated,” Lieberman said. “I feel like a younger generation will like it because the ingredients are simple and natural.”
Lieberman added that creating the book was difficult but ultimately rewarding. Since she measures ingredients with her heart, it was a new challenge to calculate the measurements for her recipes.
“The process of perfecting the recipes was so fun because I got to cook a lot and work with everyone on the crew,” Lieberman said.
While writing the book, Lieberman traveled to France, Honduras and Tuscany for inspiration. One of her favorite recipes in the book is for pupusas, a Honduran dish that reminds her of home.
At the event, Lieberman expressed her gratitude to all of her guests.
“This book is a love letter to the joy of hosting and creating unforgettable moments, “ Lieberman said. “I’m thrilled to share it in such a special space surrounded by friends and kindred spirits.”
