Charlize Theron, Christina Hendricks Attend ‘Dark Places’ LA Premiere

On Tuesday July 21 Apothic Wines and SVEDKA Vodka teamed up to fuel the Los Angeles premiere of A24 and DIRECTV’s new film Dark Places.

The film chronicles the adult life of Libby Day (played by Charlize Theron) who, at the age of 7, watched her mother and two sisters be brutally murdered in their Kansas farmhouse. In court Libby named her brother Ben (played by Tye Sheridan) as the murderer resulting in a life sentence for the wayward 15-year-old.

Now in her thirties, Libby’s dwindling financial situation leads her to accept a fee to appear at a gathering of true-crime buffs led by Lyle Wirth (played by Nicholas Hoult) who believe that Ben is innocent and the true murderer is still at large. Reluctantly she agrees to reopen the case with them and revisit the most traumatic moments of her life. As her recollections unravel Libby is forced to confront exactly what she saw that day- or didn’t see. The film, in theaters August 7, also stars Christina Hendricks, Corey Stoll and Chloë Grace Mortez and is based on the best-selling novel by Gillian Flynn (Gone Girl).

From the film: Charlize Theron, Christina Hendricks, Andrea Roth, Shannon Kook, Jennifer Pierce Mathus, Natalie Precht, Addy Miller, director Gilles Paquet-Brenner, and author Gillian Flynn all walked the red carpet. A party followed at Chateau Marmont.
