Carleigh Jade Talks New Video ‘Drunk, Desperate and Crazy’

It was shot with YouTube Studios and incorporates the actual legendary CBGB…
Check out what singer Carleigh Jade had to say about her new video!

Tell us about your new song?

“Drunk, Desperate and Crazy” is an honest glimpse into the vulnerability of the female psyche, with a powerful twist. Whenever I perform it, I dedicate it to someone else. Probably to avoid revisiting the inspiration? When I started writing these lyrics, I was f–ing pissed. I wanted to be heard, desperately. I wanted revenge. I wanted this guy, who didn’t care at all about me, to hear me. (Sometimes I need to sing to be heard). It wasn’t until after it was written, that I started to appreciate the message in a different light. NO female artist has touched on this feeling of complete, reckless desperation. Especially in the digital age, we are so vulnerable! And we all know from personal experience about that shameful drunk dial. I’m owning up, taking control, saying “so f—ing what?!” and making my ex boyfriends sing along!

What was the inspiration for your video?

Making this video was the coolest experience I’ve had in my career to date. We had the honor of working with CBGB’s, YouTube Studios, and Other Side Pictures to create this video which exceeded my wildest dreams. First of all, the iconic stage played a leading role in itself. So many of my idols have stood on that stage. It was a surreal experience for me and my band. I think the storyline is pretty straight forward. It’s exactly what happens every time I get riled up… Arson! Kidding…

Who are the artists you look up to / inspire you?

Artists I look up to…hardest question to answer! I have obvious influences that I hope people will be able to recognize in some way or another, but there is so much new talent that I discover every day. Rock, pop, soul, blues, hip hop…it’s an exciting time for music and even I am constantly shocked by my ever changing sources of inspiration.
