If you are planning a road trip along California’s coast and want to add a little pizzazz to your trip, then be sure to book a stay at the iconic Madonna Inn. Because a visit here is more of a destination than a mere hotel.

Featured in numerous shows and music videos (including ABC’s The Bachelor), this quirky hotel is located in lovely San Luis Obispo, California—along the state’s picturesque Central Coast and right off the 101 freeway. Check in to any of the 110 whimsical rooms, and you’ll find that each is uniquely designed with their own inspirational décor. Ever wondered what it would be like to stay in a room that looks like a cave? (Don’t worry, it’s complete with bed, lamps, tables and sofa chairs) Or a room with a rock shower? Or perhaps you’re looking to sleep in a bed that looks more like a stagecoach? This is the hotel for you. Better yet, stay with a group of friends and double your fun as you can check out numerous suites.

Stroll along the magnificent grounds and become entranced by the charmingly quirky resort amenities that range from the pink basketball courts and pink streetlamps to the horses that graze here. Saddle up and enjoy a trail ride with one of the hotel’s wranglers. Or rent a pink bike to explore San Luis Obispo at your own pace.

Of course, there’s also a spa to relax in and a beautiful pool with a water fountain to lounge away the afternoon (or just overlook the traffic you’re missing on the 101!).

Don’t forget to have dinner at the celebrated Gold House Steakhouse – famous for its decadent pink champagne cake. Not to mention, their delicious steaks. And don’t worry about the calories as there is live music every night to work your decadent dinner off! Another bonus: the hand-carved marble railings come from nearby Hearst Castle, a California State Park nearby and are absolutely exquisite.
