Brooklyn Roots Collective, located at the intersection of Bushwick and East Williamsburg, is rapidly becoming one of New York City’s largest and most dynamic destinations dedicated to sustainable businesses, plant-based cuisine, and community-centered programming. Spanning 20,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space, the venue blends urban farming, secondhand and sustainable markets, plant-based food, culinary education, and live entertainment in an environment designed to shift seamlessly from a bustling daytime hub for conscious commerce to a premier nightlife destination with high-caliber music and cultural events.
During the day, the Collective buzzes with curated marketplaces featuring vintage and secondhand fashion, upcycled and handmade goods, zero-waste essentials, and local art. A rotating lineup of vegan food trucks, plant-based chefs, and pop-up restaurant residencies fills the courtyard and main hall with vibrant, farm-forward cuisine, complemented by classes in the chef’s kitchen for those eager to learn hands-on. The marketplace encourages conscious consumerism while providing a platform for ethical brands and small, sustainability-driven entrepreneurs to thrive.
As evening arrives, the space transforms into a lively cultural destination hosting an array of creative and community-focused experiences. Past programming has included farm-forward cooking classes, wine tastings led by expert sommeliers, vegan cheese pairings, upcycled fashion showcases during New York Fashion Week, breathwork and sound baths, nighttime vintage markets, and seasonal festivals that blend music, food, art, and sustainability. Each event reflects the venue’s commitment to fostering connection—with nature, with creativity, and with one another.
A highlight of the season is the upcoming Sustainable Holiday Night Market on Friday, December 12th, hosted in partnership with Zero Waste NYC. From 5 PM to 9 PM, Brooklyn Roots Collective will become a festive hub of local makers, curated vintage, secondhand treasures, upcycled goods, and handmade gifts, all centered on thoughtful, low-waste shopping. Free and open to all, the marketplace invites New Yorkers to support small businesses and explore conscious craftsmanship during the holiday season. The event follows Sip & Spark, Zero Waste NYC’s sustainability talk at KCBC Brewery on December 11th, making the two-night series a community celebration of mindful living. Anchoring the Collective is an urban farm program from Oko Farms, which has worked to increase food security in Brooklyn since 2013. Their presence includes an herb garden atop the courtyard’s outdoor bar, providing pollinator-supporting plants and ingredients used in natural-dye workshops and culinary programming. A large aquaponic farm sits on the roof of the adjoining building, supplying produce used by chefs, bartenders, and market vendors. The courtyard itself features picnic tables, lush greenery, yard games, a projector for game-day and movie nights, and a refurbished school bus transformed into a vegan bakery and food-service station. This outdoor space remains open to the public, weather permitting, while the rest of the venue is available for private bookings.
Food remains central to the venue’s ethos and they host many events with a roster of vegan chefs and bakers through residencies, pop-ups, and food trucks such as Madrina Vegana. Guests can enjoy nourishing dishes prepared with ingredients grown onsite, sip cocktails garnished with herbs harvested from the rooftop garden, and participate in classes where they learn to cook with hyper-local produce. The Collective also partners with Overthrow Hospitality—known for Avant Garden, Ladybird, Soda Club, Cadence, and more—as a preferred caterer for weddings and private events, offering elevated vegan cuisine that is both mission-aligned and widely celebrated.
Beverage offerings include two expansive indoor bars—one located on the mezzanine—along with outdoor bar areas that serve botanical cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks inspired by garden-grown herbs. Sustainable spirits and ethical beverage brands are highlighted throughout the menu, creating a cohesive plant-forward experience in every corner of the venue. The dual outdoor spaces allow guests to enjoy their drinks al fresco, immersed in greenery and a calm, garden-like atmosphere.
The design of Brooklyn Roots Collective reflects its core mission. The venue incorporates secondhand, upcycled, and sustainably sourced building materials, alongside state-of-the-art A/V equipment for concerts and large-scale events. A wraparound mezzanine offers sweeping sightlines, an additional bar, and space for intimate art exhibitions. Salvaged wood, repurposed shipping containers, vintage décor, and pollinator-friendly plants tie each area together, creating a space that feels intentional, flexible, and alive.
In total, Brooklyn Roots Collective encompasses roughly 20,000 square feet, including a newly renovated warehouse, a 3,000-square-foot mezzanine, a 7,500-square-foot courtyard along Scott Avenue, and a 3,000-square-foot rear garden. The result is a venue capable of hosting everything from small workshops and tastings to large marketplace gatherings, concerts, community events, and private celebrations. Built on a foundation of sustainability, accessibility, and creativity, Brooklyn Roots Collective offers a new model for community-driven spaces—one where food, fashion, farming, and culture converge in ways that inspire connection and conscious living.
