BMF Season 2, Episode 1 Review

A strong second season opener for STARZ’s BMF has arrived after a long two years, and this time it’s bigger and badder than ever.

Meech is expanding his drug business with his partnership with K9 (Played by Rayan Lawrence). K9 was briefly seen on the pilot episode, but his story is starting to get explored on this episode. He is ruthless and he makes it known early on that he is a force to be reckoned with early on. Even though he is seen as an antagonist, K9 takes Meech under his wing to teach him how business is done his way.

Another thing I like about the episode, is that it did not take long to show how the actual BMF group formed. I cannot go into specifics, but it is a satisfying scene that dives into why it formed. It also makes me wonder when we will see Atlanta in the 1980s as well.

I also believe that the acting has drastically improved from the first season. Between Lil Meech, Da’Vinchi, Russel Hornsby, Michole Briana White, and more had great memorable lines that gauged my interest to care that they are on the screen. They really stood out with their delivery, mannerisms, and communicating a variety of emotions that really humanized the characters. Also to note, the season one cliffhanger is addressed by the end of this episode as it took an unexpected turn.

The second season of BMF kicks off in full gear with action, suspense, and a union that will set off great stories for the rest of the season. I cannot wait to see where the story will go by the end of the second season.
