Billie Eilish Presents ‘When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?’ Experience

Billie Eilish

In anticipation of her new album, “WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?” Billie Eilish officially opened up her 14 room experience last night at The Stalls at Skylight Row in Downtown Los Angeles.  On Friday at 9 pm, Billie Eilish’s new album, WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? was officially released and met with a great sigh of relief from Billie.

Spotify hosted an immersive, greatly instinctive “enhanced album experience” in celebration of the full-length debut album. As Kate Marriage, Senior Global Experiential Marketing Manager at Spotify commented, “This experience brings each one of her songs to life with a full sensory experience.” Last night signified the official opening of the 14 room sensory event entitled the “Billie Eilish Experience.” Eilish has a special condition called “synesthesia” which occurs when a certain sense, like sight, triggers another sense, like a smell, at the same time. This is not to be seen as a disease though.

Billie designed each room to complement her synesthesia and give her fans a true look into her mind when she was creating her music. Outside of each room is a certain guide that describes the color, touch, smell, shape, temperature, and even number associated with that song that Eilish experiences. For example, for the song “Bury A Friend,” when entering the room, fans are met with a chilly environment and the infamous bed that is seen on Eilish’s new album cover. They are given a flashlight and must explore what is underneath the bed. This then leads fans to a completely black room where her song is loudly playing on the stereo and the words, “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?” are written on the walls accompanied by strange ghost figures. One truly gets to step into another world and get a taste of what synesthesia must feel like.At last night’s event, as Billie took the stage, she discussed her personal journey of writing and completing the album, commenting that this experience is a “manifestation from her brain, from the room, to the feel, the smell, texture, color, and design.” At the stroke of 9 o’clock, her album was officially released and she let out a passionate sigh and began to thank her family. She especially thanked her brother Finneas who had solely produced the whole album as well as her mom – mentioning that it was her mom’s birthday the following day and a brightly lit birthday cake was promptly brought to the stage where a group of over 300 guests serenaded Eilish’s mother. Some guests included Heidi Klum, Tove Lo, Bhad Babie, Jessie Reyez, Ethan Cutkosky and Nina Nesbitt. The “Billie Eilish Experience” will be available as a three day pop-up that is open to the public from March 29 – 31st.
