Bibhu Mohapatra Presents Spring/Summer 2016 Collection

The inspiration of the gorgeous Bibhu Mohapatra RTW Spring 2016 collection was that of the life of Annemarie Schwarzenbach – the journalist, photographer and style icon of the Bauhaus era.

In his words, the Spring 2016 collections adds a bold and intrepid dimension to the spirit of the Bibhu woman. The collection was filled with different cuts, layering, dimensional proportions and pastel-like colors. The shapes/cut-outs were not one to easily be missed as he had that feature on much of the beautiful collection. We certainly can see the influence of Schwarzenbach’s life in the collection and even down to the models’ hair, they were styled in a similar way Annemarie wore hers in her lifetime. The show took place at The Gallery at Skylight Clarkson Square. Guests quickly filled the space and the show was off to a great start with the opening look being a white ponte shift dress with hexagon devoré tulle. (The shapes were in full tow! We loved it).

The show came to an end with the last look being a breathtaking pale grey gown with embroidery detail. Bibhu Mohapatra appeared after the finale with so much excitement. The show was great and we look forward to seeing these ethereal pieces off the runway.
