The sneaker boutique has crafted a sneakerhead favorite with an interesting twist.
BAIT, an independent sneaker boutique based in California, has collaborated with Adidas Skateboarding to release the Stan Smith Vulc “Happy.” The shoe’s upper is made with natural hemp and will (appropriately) be released on April 20th—and if you’re a stoner, you know exactly what day this is.
The “Happy” has a variety of textures for an otherwise simple shoe, and there are plenty of references that cannabis enthusiasts will appreciate. The hemp upper and laces have a stone-like pattern (literally, stoned) and a subtle smiley-face integrated into the pattern. The heel tag and tongue are medical marijuana-inspired with text like “DOSAGE: 420MG” and “PRESCRIBED,” and the heel is fuzzy green suede stamped with the classic trefoil Adidas logo. This vulcanized Stan Smith also has a unique cork insole that will conform with the wearer’s feet and even has a hidden pocket on the underside of the tongue to hide your stash.
The Stan Smith “Happy” will be released online for $120 on April 15th, but prospective buyers will have to sign up for BAIT’s raffle for a chance to cop them. The winners of the raffle will be notified on Friday, April 15th. The sneaker will be released in store at any BAIT location on 4/20.
