The Knocturnal was kept warm in the glorious heat of fashion week chaos backstage at the Ryan Roche presentation, on the coldest day of the year thus far! The beauty team for the show dished on how to achieve the look.

A: We are going for a very flat, controlled and sleek pony tail. We use Phyolaque Soie to just brush it in to shape. Then we’re going to take a hairpin and thread through the nape of the neck. Next we feed a little bit of elastic through the pin and pull the elastic so it is threaded in to the nape of the neck. We take a little Phytolisee [Ultra Glossing Finishing Serum] to put some shine in the pony tail and then we tie the elastic. For the pieces around the hairline we just create a little bit of movement and give it a slightly wind swept sort of feel to it. Just using a little heat to give it some slight waves on the ends. Using the Phyolaque Soie with a kabuki brush to keep the hair nice and fluffed.

This season we are looking at a very peachy palette. It’s very natural and Romey [Soleimani] the lead for the makeup is known for her beautiful skin so we wanted to do the same thing with the nails. We want it to be really beautiful but not to dull. We buffed the nails for the girls and we did one coat of the fortifying rich filler, which creates a really nice satin finish for the nails. It’s really sort of perfect; it blurs imperfections and fills in any ridges and provides a peachy tone. We topped it off with one coat of [Londontown Lakur] Teatime and put no treatment on top so it’s really fresh and clean but still a little undone in a way.

The look for Ryan Roche is all about skin. Ryan has all these beautiful colors in the collection that are almost like skin colors so we like to work the skin at all feels kind of simpatico together. There was a dark kind of rusted in cranberry color in the collection and we used it a little bit under the eye. At first, we used a lipstick crayon under the eye and then we diffused it with two different eye shadows. The idea is that it is more like a mood and there is this girl that is maybe from an old Peter Lindberg photo with that kind of moodiness. It’s something a little tougher to anchor all the prettiness in the clothes. For the eyes, we used products in a different way than they were meant. There was a tinted [Laura Teller Define and Tame] Brow gel which we took on the back of our hand and pressed into the lid. It’s tinted like a taupe color and that effect is a little bit glossy and a little bit of a tint but it dries, which is kind of cool to use on your eye because it doesn’t move around like a crème eye shadow would and it’s transparent.
We are perfecting the skin with Laura Geller makeup as well as Dr. Hauschka skin care which is my all time favorite. There is an eye balm that we are using as a gloss to highlight and that’s a great way to highlight using an eye balm that has shine and sheen as opposed to just using a highlighter cause you’re doing something that is good for your delicate eye area. The lips are just Dr. Hauschka lip balm. The eyebrows are brushed up with the clear version of the brow gel.
And that’s the look!
