Exclusive: Backstage at Malan Breton Spring 2017 With Joico

Vivienne Mackinder,  Joico’s lead hair designer and celebrity stylist Paul Norton discuss the look for Malan Breton’s show at New York Fashion Week S/S ’16 . Check it out!

What was your inspiration for the look?

Vivienne Mackinder: The inspiration for the show is a mix between the 1970’s and the 1920’s. So we have the 70′ s being the bohemian hair with the 1920’s wave. We are waving the hair with a flat iron so we get a flatter wave.  The girls will have it tied in the back to give a bit of a looser wave creating a whimsical effect. This look is sexy, pretty, and etherial.

The other look is a bit more complicated style. It is similar to a twist braided  into a sleek ponytail capturing the essence of the ’70’s.

Tell me more about today’s look!

Paul Norton: So Vivienne is a genius obviously and she came up with all of the looks with Malan.  This is show is both male and female so for the men we are doing this blue lagoon look. It is such a classic style but with a modern texture.

What products are you loving right now?

We are using all the Joico products. I am personally a huge fan of the Hair Shake for anything! I finished the men’s look off with Flip Turn Hairspray.
