E-Sports is a global growing phenomenon that involves futuristic games through online team gaming. Games and e-sport players have sold out major arenas. Top e-sports teams such as Cloud9 and TSM shared with us how their life has changed after online notoriety.
Famous e-sports players Hauntzer, Biofrost, Stewie2K and Autimatic have teamed up with AXE Hair to help improve their styling needs, new celebrity look, and AXE is helping the players feel confident in their own skin.
“You really want to be focused when you’re getting to the arena and so some of the things I do to make sure I’m focused to is try to look my best and feel confident. Doing my hair is actually a big part of that,” says Autimatic.
Take a look at their full interview with us:
Q: Explain to me exactly what e-sports actually is so we can get familiar with it?
Biofrost: The importance [of e-sports] basically is futuristic sports in the gaming world. So It’s like in a career in pretty much gaming, games like CDFR.
Q: Tell me about these games, when you guys go play an arena, tell me how many people it is, What the energy is like? What is the mindset before you go and play a game at an arena. How about Autimatic? What kind of mindset do you need to be in to play a game?
Autimatic: You really want to be focused when you’re getting to the arena and so some of the things I do to make sure I’m focused to is try to look my best and feel confident. Doing my hair is actually a big part of that and so when I get there, I just do a meet and greet with a bunch of fans and when we’re playing, I tend to go in and focus on the game.
Q: I can imagine things get pretty heated at these games. What’s the craziest situation you guys have ever seen at one of these games. Has someone gotten too crazy in the game?
Autimatic: The players don’t really get that crazy, but for me when we were in Brazil and when we’re in finals playing a Brazilian team, it’s probably the craziest thing to ever happen to us because everyone in the crowd wanted us loose, it’s probably the most pressure I’ve ever been under.
Q: Stewie 2K, how do you prepare for a big game or a big match?
Stewie 2k: Well I guess Brazil would be a good example because there’s a lot of fans there. I think they’re about 8,000 people there all rooting for the other team. So I think being mentally prepared is really important because we have the crowd adjust how your mentality is and I think just being with the team and telling your team that you got to play with confidence and kind of have the right mentality going in to the game. You need to stay focused the entire time rather than trying to day dream about other stuff or things like that.

Q: Now you guys have like teams like Cloud 9, TSM…How does one qualify to be on a team? How do you build yourself to be a professional E-sports player?
Stewie 2K: I think it’s pretty hard to become an e-sports player because there are days when it’s kind of a gamble to take on a new young player because you don’t know what he’s capable of. I think for new players the goal is to stay dedicated and kind of not let other people think other things. So I think dedication is the key to becoming a professional player.
Q: Talk to me about your guys’ grooming habits. I know one of you mentioned earlier it’s important to look good and feel good before a game. Talk to me about some of your grooming and styling tips before a game. How do you guys get ready what do you dress like. How do you do your hair? Do you have to do your hair a certain way? Do you have to wear certain clothes?
Stewie 2K: I think everyone on our team likes to look good and presentable and I think doing our hair is one of the ways that we are like the NFL. Some of the stuff we like to use is like AXE hair products and we like to style our hair to kind of get our day going. That’s how we greet our fans.
Personally I use the AXE paste. I feel like that’s the one that just fits us. I just like to style my hair with it. I use that once and just play.
Q: What about you Autimatic, do you have a go-to product to use for style for a big game?
Autimatic: Yeah I really like the natural cream. I like it a lot more to run my hands through my hair while I’m playing and it’s not too stiff, so It’s comfortable for me. And then in terms of like what I wear, I like to be comfortable so I’ll wear like running pants. That’s actually really important to be comfortable when you’re playing, but at the same time be presentable so I won’t wear things like sweats or anything like that because I just wouldn’t feel my best.
Q: So what’s going on in the games? Are you currently in matches right now or is it on break?
Autimatic: So for the league players on TSM, we’re currently on our break and we’re just trying to get as much relaxation time as possible. Like visiting families during the holidays, things like that. We’re just trying to take a break from the game.
Q: So when do you guys start up again?
Autimatic: I think we’ll start up practice again in the beginning of January, like 4th or 5th and our season will begin around the 20th or 21st.
Q: Hunzter, where do you guys kick off the season at?
Hunzter: We play in that LTF studio in Santa Monica.
Q: Do you guys come to NY?
Hunzter: We might come to New York. There’s been a final at MSG before and it might happen again. I’m not sure.
