At NYFW, Evan Hirsch Transforms Secondhand Into High Fashion with ShopGoodwill.com®

Last Friday night in TriBeCa, Evan Hirsch doubled down on secondhand fashion as he officially stepped onto the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s New York Fashion Week calendar for the first time.

Hosted at Friedrichs Pontone in TriBeCa, the presentation marked Hirsch’s second collab with ShopGoodwill.com, following last season’s expansive runway. This time, restraint reigned. Five looks. No excess. A thesis, sharpened. If the previous outing was spectacle, this was manifesto.

Hirsch reframed resale not as thrift, nor as sustainability talking point, but as couture. Each design drew directly from a trending ShopGoodwill.com category, turning the platform’s digital treasure hunt into tactile, sculptural fashion.

The opener set the tone: a bridal-inspired gown built from hundreds of repurposed jewelry fragments. Vintage brooches, chains, and hardware were hand-placed into a shimmering armor of memory, glinting under gallery lights. Panels of reworked French lace — salvaged from a high-low wedding dress — anchored the look with romantic gravitas.

Hirsch’s “Evan’s Choice” look pivoted to play. Mining vintage toys for inspiration, he anchored an upcycled Calvin Klein column dress beneath a structured cage crinoline, its severity softened by a beaded carousel horse motif prancing across the bodice. Bows and circus-inflected flourishes added a wink of theatricality.

Menswear entered the upcycled chat with a Joseph Abboud suit that was reconstructed brick-by-brick in LEGO-like square beadwork. A recycled patchwork cape and a matching beaded top hat edged the silhouette toward pageantry.

Throughout the evening, editors, digital creators, and industry insiders documented each look at close range, phones raised, flashes constant. Hirsch, who commands a sizable TikTok following, moved between fashion designer and digital-era personality — a duality that feels increasingly native to fashion’s current moment.

With resale projected to continue its meteoric growth, Hirsch’s official NYFW debut signals something larger than a milestone for one designer. It suggests a shift in how the industry contextualizes secondhand.
