This latest expression takes smokiness and brings it to the next level
Last week, Ardbeg hosted an event in Manhattan to celebrate the launch of their latest expression. The event, titled Planet Ardbeg, was a launch party and special tasting for Ardbeg Hypernova. Ardbeg Hypernova is an evolution to the popular Supernova series. And what makes Hypernova special is the level of high intensity smoke that it brings. On the nose, you get a powerful smoke and tar aroma that has a taste like a peppery explosion. The pepper taste then finishes with an intense smokiness and earthiness that wakes up your palate.
At this event, guests were able to taste Ardbeg neat as well as indulge in some Ardbeg Hypernova cocktails. One of our favorites of the night was called The Guardian and was made with Ardbeg, Banane due Bresil, Cynar, lime juice, orange flower water, chocolate, and a ground nutmeg garnish. The intensity of the Ardbeg paired wonderfully with the fruit forward notes of banana and the myriad of spices within the cocktail. Towards the end of the event, guests celebrated with a toast to the new Ardbeg expression. Taking the first sip was a sensory overload in the best way possible. Exploring the intense notes of the Ardbeg Hypernova is well worth the initial shock as the Hypernova is without a doubt, a delicious and flavorful single malt whiskey.
