Apple TV+ Brings Hope in a Letter with ‘Dear…’

Emmy and Peabody award-winner R.J. Cutler is using the power of the pen to bring hope during this pivotal time in history.

The world is changing and never has there been more of a need for inspiration found in leaders. The executive producer’s latest project is out to support the momentum.

Inspired by Apple’s groundbreaking “Dear Apple” spots, “Dear…” takes an inventive and cinematic approach to biographies of the most iconic figures in society today by using letters written by those whose lives have been changed through their work.

Speaking to Cutler last week, the producer expressed to The Knockurnal the importance of documenting individuals who have sought positive change for the planet through the motivated letters of gratitude sent to them over the years. The show’s episodes profile internationally recognized leaders including Oprah Winfrey, Gloria Steinem, Spike Lee, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Yara Shahidi, Stevie Wonder, Aly Raisman, Misty Copeland, Big Bird and more.

Each recognizable figure does not take for granted the recognition of being part of a rather impactful show.

“Dear…” is executive produced by R.J. Cutler alongside Todd Lubin, Jay Peterson, Jane Cha, and Lyle Gamm. Matador Content produces the series for Apple.
