Amazon Prime’s Nanny Premieres at the AFI Film Festival Last Week

Following the screening was a live Q&A with actress Anna Diol and director Nikyatu Jusu.

Last week we had the pleasure of attending the premiere of Amazon Prime’s newest original feature Nanny, at the AFI Film Festival, which was being held at the TCL Chinese 6 Theaters.

Nanny is a psychological slow burn with a touch of Guillermo Del Toro.  It tells the story about a Senegalese immigrant, Aisha, who’s trying to start a life of her own in the U.S. working a Nanny for an Upper East Side family. As she saves up enough to bring her son over from Senegal, she begins to have premonitions that her entire world is about to shatter.

After the screening there was a Q&A featuring Anna Diop (Aisha) and Nikyatu Jusu (Director), Nikkia Moulterie (Producer) and Charlese Antoinette Jones (Costume Designer). They spoke about what components brought the film together, as well as some of the challenges they had to overcome in order to get the message across.
