African Beats took over loanDepot Park on May 28th, day two of Afro Nation.
The purpose of Afronation is to celebrate African culture, Black music and Afro beats of all kinds with a variety of different artists so people of all cultures can come and enjoy it.
Afro Nation closed out the festival on Sunday when big stars came out to celebrate music with everyone who came out.
While walking into the festival you can hear the Afrobeat music blaring from the speakers and people dancing and enjoying themselves. As you walk in you see a stage where artists like Major League Djz, TxC, and DBN Gogo who represented the South African music genre amapiano. Amapiano is a type of house music that came up in 2010 in South Africa. The piano stage has people dancing and vibing all around it, getting refreshments or waiting for friends to meet up.
While walking through the crowd, you can climb ramps to make it to the main stage. The ramp allows you to take in the view from above ground level, where you can see everyone together celebrating culture. Many stars took the stage for day two, where Shenseea played her classic dance tunes to get everyone in the mood to dance all day long. Reggaeton known Panamanian singer Sech showed his versatility in music. BNXN (pronounced Benson) got everyone singing with him while singing renditions of famous songs like, “Finesse.” At the end, he surprised the crowd by inviting American-Cameroonian singer, Libianca to sing the smash hit “People.”
The stadium went nuts when one of Nigeria’s pop sensations took the stage. Fireboy DML gave the crowd a sense of African pop music, which had the crowd singing along to one of his biggest hits “Diana”, making his performance one to remember. Rema took the stage after making the crowd go crazy, singing songs like “Calm Down” and “Woman.”
The end of the night was complete, with headliner WizKid, a Nigerian musical icon, claiming the Afro Nation main stage. He sang a complete setlist of all his iconic songs where he performed energetically and was a complete vibe.
He performed a rendition of a hit song, “Essence” and invited BNXN on stage to accompany singing, “Mood.” The night ended perfectly with WizKid giving the performance and Afro Nation a night to remember.
According to Billboard, Afro Nation started all the way in Portugal in 2019 and has expanded everywhere and will continue to grow.
