Accessorie Circuit Premier Show Joins Project Womens at the Jacob Javits Center

Six fashion wholesale shows were open to retailers at the convention center this week.

Multinational events and publishing company, Informa and UBM Fashion kicked off the new year with the returning premier show, Accessorie Circuit, that featured contemporary women’s fashion accessories. Retail buyers were able to see displays of more than nine hundred apparel and accessory brands from January 6-8 at the Jacob Javits Center in Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan.

Apart from Accessorie Circuit, there were five other women’s wholesale shows that took place during the New York Women’s January marketplace.

Project Womens, formerly Intermezzo Collections in New York, presented modern lifestyle brands that did not pertain to a specific season. Lucky Brand, Free People, Anouk, and Rachel Pally were among the popular displays.

Moda presented more upscale ready-to-wear collections, with arrangements of resort wear and year-round women’s clothing. London Times, Liverpool Jeans, and Dolce Cabo were brands that sold designs to retailers.

Fame was a show with trend-driven and ready-to-wear designs aimed at young women. Steve Madden, Judy Blue Jeans, and Skylar Rose were featured brands.

Accessories the Show showcased the capsule collection by Nicky Hilton, giving retailers the opportunity to meet the designer and socialite. Other included brands were Tommy Bahama, Vincent Pradier, and Serefina.

Children’s Club was an international exhibition that sold lifestyle collections for children from infants to age twelve. Calvin Klein Kids and Isaac Mizrahi had displays at the event.

Sustainability is a significant topic of discussion within the modern fashion industry and was one theme of the Accessorie Circuit show. Those who visited saw many eco-friendly international clothing and accessory collections.

“My designs feature handwoven West-African fabric,” said designer Robin Sirleaf, the creator of accessories brand Sarep + Rose, “Sustainability is so important to me.” Sirleaf personally visits with the Liberian artists who help make her designs into accessories with indigenous textiles. “The influx of second-hand clothing across the continent now means that reviving and protecting the industry for these ancient handcrafted textiles is now urgent,” as Sirleaf wrote in the brand’s call-to-action.

“We use ethical materials to create our jewelry,” said Sa’Diyya Dunkley, the senior account manager of the handcrafted Kenyan jewelry brand Soko, “We support and give marginalized artisans the opportunity to sell their goods on our mobile app.” Sustainability is a vital concept to this brand as well, with their products being made from recycled materials.

Accessorie Circuit, the sixth show, marketed contemporary accessories for women, including Sarep + Rose, Soko, Fallon & Royce and Cristina Sabatini among others.
