The 19th annual American Black Film Festival kicked off with an “Old School Hip Hop” Party opening night at Stage48 Thursday on Manhattan’s West Side.
Celebrities and ABFF pass holders alike danced the night away to old school beats mixed with new ones spun on vinyl records by beatboxer, rapper and producer DJ D-Nice. Attendees included Jeff Friday, ABFF and Film Life, Inc. founder, a multifaceted entertainment company focused on advocating diversity as well as Cory Hardrict, who is starring in the upcoming movie November Criminals. At one point Naughty by Nature’s Vinny grabbed the mic and demonstrated his MC skills while Doug E. Fresh took to the stage and rocked the crowd. Hip hop musician Roxanne Shanté, co-hosted the event and Love Bug Starski, MC, musician, and record producer gave a killer performance.
