Fox Upfront 2019 announces two new shows, “neXt” and “Outmatched”!

neXt is a sci-fi thriller from the makers of 24: Legacy and This is Us. With the advent of a human level artificial intelligence, concerns arise about whether it is here to help us or hurt us. The show explores how technology has invaded our lives, how it is changing us in ways we have yet to understand, and what consequences all of this will have. When a computer scientist dies inexplicably after finding a questionable code within the A.I., the Silicon Valley pioneer and creator of the A.I. starts to realize that his creation could lead to global catastrophe. Teaming up with the Cyber Crime Taskforce, they investigate if an A.I. is really capable of murder, and what this huge and oddly shady tech company is hiding from the rest of the world. This thriller will leave viewers at the edge of their seats and afraid of what the devices they keep around them are actually doing. Starring Emmy Award nominees John Slattery, Fernanda Andrade, Michael Mosley, Jason Butler Harner, Eve Harlow, Aaron Moten, Gerardo Celasco, Elizabeth Cappucino, and Evan Whitten.

Outmatched takes an interesting approach to the family comedy genre with a new take on the composition of the characters that make up the show, and an interesting clash of personality that invites both insightful commentary and clever comedy. The trailer introduces two seemingly ordinary parents living in Atlantic City, who, by some twist of fate, have three children who have genius-level intelligence. The contrast between these three children and their ordinary parents (along with a fourth, average sibling) introduces an interesting challenge for the parents to overcome. The parents’ desire for their children to live ordinary lives naturally causes friction because of the inherent extraordinary nature of their children. The trailer also proves that this formula gives great potential for comedic moments that can appeal to both parents of children, due to the relatable problems facing both sides of the spectrum. Starring Jason Biggs, Maggie Lawson, Tisha Campbell-Martin, Jack Stanton, Connor Kalopsis, Ashley Boettcher, and Oakley Bull.
