28 Killed in Terror Attack at Istanbul Airport

At least 28 people died and dozens were injured in a terror attack at Ataturk Airport in Istanbul, Turkey on Tuesday.

Three suicide bombers detonated explosives after police shot at them. Taxis arrived to transport injured people from the airport. At least 60 people were injured in the attack.

Turkey’s Dogan News Agency said “ISIS is behind the attack,” referring to the suicide bombers that detonated at Ataturk Airport. However, a Turkish official stated that it was too early to draw any conclusions when asked about Dogan News Agency’s report.

A police officer tackled one of the bombers before they set off their explosives. Witnesses have reported they believe the police officer was killed. Reports state that two attackers blew themselves up at the entrance of the international terminal. Pictures on social media show wounded people inside and outside the airport.

Almost two hours after the attack, police were evacuating Ataturk airport. Foreign officials are “urgently seeking further information.”
