Charli XCX Announces New Record Label ‘Vroom Vroom Recordings’ and More!

Pop Sensation ‘Charli XCX’ announced that she’s starting her own record label “Vroom Vroom Recordings” and shared details of her brand new ‘Vroom Vroom EP.’

Not only is Charli XCX releasing her new ‘Vroom Vroom EP’ this Friday 26, but she has also started her own record label Vroom Vroom Recordings. Charli has toured the globe over the past couple of years to mark the release of her second studio album SUCKER which has over 850,000 album sales to date. She recently co-wrote Selina Gomez’s number one hit “Same Old Love,” she’s received Sesac ‘Songwriter of the Year’ in 2013 and Billboard’s ‘Hitmaker of the Year’ in 2014. Charli worked with electronic/synth-pop producer SOPHIE on her new EP. Charli’s “Vroom Vroom” track, which was released towards the end of 2015, showcased her expertise for producing music and was recorded in Stockholm last year. Following this exciting news, Charli has been confirmed to host her own Beats 1 radio show starting on February 26 at 8 p.m. UK time. Her EP track “Trophy” will also receive its first play with Zane Lowe on Beats 1 tonight, alongside an on-air interview.

Charli had a few words to share about all of this exciting news:
“Vroom Vroom Recordings is my new, experimental pop label and it will combine my love for bubblegum pop with mystery and darkness. The artists coming up through it will be sharp, potent, deadly, and ultimately, will leave their mark on pop music. RIVRS and CuckooLander are two artists who have so much intelligence, pop sensibility and potential – they know what they want and both have great vision. That inspires me and it’s why I want to work with them. I’ve always been fascinated by shy and introvert people – it’s something that I am mostly not – and I feel both acts are in ways. It captivates me and sucks me in, and I think their music will do the same for others.

I’ve worked with SOPHIE on the new EP and what we create together speaks for itself. Sometimes we get aggressive, sometimes we get beautiful; he pushes me and I push him. I’m making beautiful party songs right now and this is just the start. The album goes to other places and I can’t wait for people to hear it. I feel the most creative I have in a long time and I couldn’t be more excited for the next chapter.”

In celebration of her new venture, Charli has released two of her favorite tracks: “Friend/Lover” by Charlotte Mallory (vocalist) and Fin Munro (multi-instrumentalist/keys) aka RIVRS and “Beating Myself Up” by a one-woman multi-instrumentalist, CuckooLander through hew label. Check out the tracks on SoundCloud now.

23-year-old Charlotte Aitchison aka Charli XCX will be hosting a very special ‘Vroom Vroom Recordings presents…’ show at the Ace Hotel, London on Friday 11th March. With an exclusive DJ set from Charli herself, RIVRS will be performing and DJ sets will follow from CuckooLander and PC Music’s Hannah Diamond (buy tickets here). Charli is also confirmed for two shows at this year’s SXSW, Texas with SOPHIE. On Thursday 17th March, Charli and SOPHIE will headline the Gorilla VS Bear X Hype Machine showcase at Hype Hotel.
