The plushy world has been taking over since the peak of the pandemic with brands like Squishmallow, Wild Republic, and even the famous Build-A-Bear. But have you heard about Jellycats? This London-based plush brand known for its high-quality luxury and tactile fabric creates plushies with sensory elements. Jellycats took over FAO Schwarz today with an exclusive look at their breakfast amusables.
In September of 2023, FAO Schwarz welcomed a London-based plush toy company to its 30 Rockefeller Plaza location known as Jellycat. Known for the Jellycat Diner experience you can watch your experienced friendly waitress or waiter cook your meal to perfection and serve it up with a smile. You can choose from an array of items such as keychains, purses, books, and plush toys with prices ranging from as low as $20 and as high as $50.
Unlike other plush brands, Jellycat has an exclusive contract with their materials making it impossible for other brands to receive the same quality. Additionally, the majority of the hero characters have a backstory and personality that resonates with fans creating a sense of nostalgia. It takes roughly a year, from conception to execution, for a Jellycat to be brought to life. The most famous Jellycat is Bashful Bunny a best seller at the company since its release in 2007.
Steeping into the world of collectables Jellycat has made its statement by ensuring cultural impact plays a role in the items produced. In its three major markets, Jellycat has been able to produce a London Fish and Chips amusable, a Pairs croissant and pain au chocolat amusable, and now in New York a waffle, pancake, and salmon lox bagel amusable. We were served up mini breakfast treats resembling the new amusable, as we got to speak with some of Jellycats team members. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and plays a vital role in American culture. Pancakes in the early morning, chicken and waffles at brunch, or a healthy bagel with lox.
Keep in mind these three items are exclusive only to the FAO Schwarz store in New York. So if you’re a collector of the Jellycat you can grab your New York plushies on your next trip.
