Nearly 100 guests experienced a delightful triple treat for their lips thanks to Biossance and Van Leeuwen. The two popular brands teamed up together to host a special celebration in New York where guests indulged in decadent ice cream and were introduced to a new luxurious lip balm.
Held at Van Leeuwen’s intimate SoHo shop—located at 61 West Houston Street—on September 5, fans gathered at the party to receive a complimentary cup of delicious Van Leeuwen ice cream and to test out Biossance’s newest innovation, the Pro-Peptide Lip Protector balm, that just launched and now available to purchase.
As the lucky customers entered the store—some patiently waited a few hours in line—they were given a scoop of the black cherry flavored Van Leeuwen ice cream sprinkled with rose quartz candy (so yummy!) and edible glitter or vegan strawberry shortcake flavored ice cream. Generous portions of ice cream were served, and Van Leeuwen proudly boasts their ice cream is made of grass-fed milk and cream from local farms, pure cane sugar, and organic egg yolks.
Founded in 2008 in New York City by brothers Ben and Pete Van Leeuwen, their mission was to make great ice cream from good ingredients that make customers feel good. They succeeded and their sweet treats have grown into a national obsession due to high quality and unique ice cream flavors such as honeycomb, Earl Grey tea, and marionberry cheesecake. They also serve tasty vegan ice cream, chocolate chip cookies, cookie sandwiches, sundaes, and milkshakes.
“I only eat ice cream from Van Leeuwen because it’s so good and it’s healthier,” said Jamie Jackson, a fan who waited in line with her friend. “When I heard about the collaboration with Biossance, I had to be here. I’ve never tried Biossance makeup, so I’m excited to try their stuff and eat ice cream.”
After being served some very enjoyable ice cream, guests were handed Biossance’s latest product, the Pro-Peptide Lip Protector, to test and take home. This inventive product is made for all skin types and promises to deliver instant, deep, and long lasting moisture for plump looking lips. Not only does this lip balm offer a glossy shine and silky smooth texture as well, but it provides 24 hours of moisture and visibly improves plumpness, enhancing volume and instantly smoothing appearance due to a trio of super hydrating ingredients.
The three leading ingredients in the Lip Protector are: peptides, which improves lip health and restores definition and volume for plump looking lips; the second is micro-encapsulated hyaluronic acid, which is upcycled vitamin-E capsules that delivers hyaluronic acid for deep hydration and nourishment; and the third is squalane, a sugarcane-derived super ingredient that supports the lips’ moisture barrier by adding and locking in hydration.
Biossance’s sheer, buildable finish lip balm is available in a clear wash called H2Glow and two shades called Supernova (berry color) and Blush Quartz (pink color) to enhance the lips’ natural color. Also, this balm does not have flavor, just a pleasant scent of sustainably scoured vanilla.
Kate Donnelly, Biossance’s vice president of global brand marketing, and Edward Reischl, an account executive at Biossance, happily greeted guests and provided information about the products and about the company. “Biossance was founded in 2017 and we are a clean skincare brand rooted in biotech. We are rooted in our squalane formulas [a skin-identical hydrating molecule made from sustainable fermented sugarcane] and we are equally clean as they are clinically proven,” Donnelly told guests at the event. “Everything we do is grounded in our sustainable sugarcane squalane and it’s the root of every one of our products. Squalane is a super hydrater and mimics the squalane that your body makes.”
Donnelly went on to explain that Biossance also amplifies the squalane with all the other active ingredients that are combined with their processed formula. “Biossance overall is a full, all in, skincare line. We have everything from cleansers, serums, moisturizers, and sun care,” she said. “All of our products are available at Sephora and Sephora.com.”
Due to Biossance’s mission of providing clean skincare rooted in biotech, consumers have fallen in love with the brand. “I’m a huge Biossance fan. I actually use their skincare. I do love their products,” said Marquitta Walker, a fan who waited in line for about an hour and a half. “It’s very hydrating. They have great ingredients and they do a lot of good stuff for the environment as well. So that’s why they use the certain ingredients that they do. I really like them. I’m excited to try the new lip balm!”
Guests also took home a gift bag filled with Biossance goodies such as the squalane vitamin-C rose oil and a bottle of squalane sunscreen. All guests left the launch party with their lips looking radiant and on a sugar high!
